Deviated from the meal plan today, as my brothers arrived in L.A. after having taken a roadtrip across the U.S. and wanted to go out to dinner and a movie. I didn’t eat poorly, and since most of the dinners are heavy on the protein, I ate steak and shrimp and avoided the delicious death known as tortilla chips.
The tough part is, since we went to a movie afterward, I didn’t have time to prepare lunch for tomorrow. I also may have plans with people from work tomorrow evening which will prevent me from cooking yet again. The p90x eating program is flexible enough to handle a few days out, and all the portions and ordering suggestions are laid out for me, so it will all be fine. I just find it a little annoying that following the set meal plan to the letter is so time intensive it becomes an either/or with everything else in your life.
Maybe this weekend I can dedicate some time to preparing most of the week in advance, so I don’t feel so stuck every night.
Soy sausage patties? Ewww.
They actually aren’t all that bad. Much smaller than I expected though, they’re like the size of a silver dollar.
Soy sausage patties are probably the least offensive of all soy meat substitutes. I think they’re great. I actually just made this weird vegan recipe for brown rice “sausage” patties and as you can imagine, the texture was weird, but the taste was actually spot-on. Never realized how much of the flavor in sausage has nothing to do with the meat.
