Again With the Eating Out

by Paul | Feb 12, 2010 | Food Diary | 2 comments

Had an odd craving for soda again today – don’t know why. I’m beginning to think it may be because I was really beat and soda has been the only souce of caffeine in my diet ever. I should learn to drink coffee I guess.

I should also quit the mid-afternoon M&M’s.

How do you find the calorie content of certain foods? I looked all over for the calorie content of a poquito mas chicken burrito and your site was the only one that had it.

Estimation. Anything preceded by a ~ is my best guess because it hasn’t been officially released anywhere.

For something like a Poquito Mas burrito, I start with something comparable that has been published, say a chicken burrito at Baja Fresh, and then make my best guesses as to the differences. Aside from tasting a million time better than anything at Baja Fresh, The Poquito Mas burritos usually have more cheese and are slightly bigger, so I adjusted what I felt was appropriate.

In the end, if you’re tracking calories for everything you eat, the proof will be in the pudding. You should expect to lose about 1 pound a week if you have a daily calorie deficit of 500 calories. If you constantly don’t see that, then you need to question your estimates.
