Second day in a row my weigh-in has jumped 4 pounds. That’s 8 pounds in two fricking days! Seriously, wtf?
These are the kinds of results that cause people to quit. I mean, I know I haven’t been eating like a saint or hitting the gym like a champ, but an 8 pound upswing just feels like sucker punch straight to the gut. I didn’t see a jump that bad from day to day during the holidays, even when I ate cheesecake multiple days in a row.
I know I’ve really got to get more disciplined if I want to keep seeing results as I lose weight, but I had felt like I was doing alright this last week; not great, but alright.
My only real option is to soldier through and work harder. Maybe alright isn’t good enough.
More disciplined? I didn’t realize you were still trying to lose weight with all the BS you’ve been eating.
Fair enough. Looking back on the last week or two, you’re right, I actually haven’t been eating very well at all.
That bothers me because, even seeing the poor results on the scale this morning, I still felt as if I’d been doing alright. It would appear my internal barometer for such things still isn’t what I’d like it to be and just going through the motions of counting calories without really thinking about what I’m eating isn’t a viable choice.
That was going to be my suggestion, you’ve got the calorie counting down but maybe its time to focus on one other aspect of what you eat. The body doesn’t respond only to caloric intake but what types of calories they are and what other nutrition accompanies them…. I know you know this, so maybe its time to kick it up a notch and add another focus, like cooking that meal or two at home each week. Just plan what they are in advance and get the ingredients so you arent starving after work when the task seems much more daunting. Put a spin on it too, like for both of those meals, take the $15 or $20 you would have spent on eating out and put it in your Oktoberfest fund. You know, just another incentive. Eating out is tough cause most places use so many processed ingredients and everything from the tomato paste to the bread will have sugar, preservatives, and other unnecessary crap that your body has to deal with. Kudos on being pretty steady with some type of breakfast at home though.
Here’s hoping that you’ll see better results after you step it up a notch. I’m pulling for ya!
