Vacation

by Paul | Jul 18, 2009 | Thoughts | 1 comment

So I head out for a 2 week vaction this morning. I’m supposed to be in Illinois, Kentucky, New Jersey, and New York over that time span so I expect a lot of flying, a lot of driving, and a lot of poor food options.

That doesn’t mean I can just eat whatever I want with abandon. There’s no experience to be had eating snickers from a gas station, or stopping at McDonalds on the road. Those are lifestyle choices, and poor ones to be sure. I’m not on a diet, but rather a quest to change my way of living – something like that doesn’t go on hold.

However, I do not plan to deny myself the joy that is Chicago style pizza or experiencing whatever regional dishes I come across, regardless of how bad they may be. Part of the wonder of travel is being able to enjoy different foods.

I know it may set back my goal a bit (and give Russ a chance to catch up to me on our bet) but I’m okay with that. I’m out to live a healthy lifestyle, not an unhappy one.

Good luck with the traveling. I always eat crap when I travel because it’s convenient. A few days in it looks like you are still being thoughtful about what you are eating. You are a better man than I.
