It Works… Kinda
January 25th, 2010 by Paul

Well, it’s 11:52pm local time, and I’m just now posting my list for this week, but the good news is I’m actually able to post without doing the crazy work arounds I had to do to post last week. As of today, the issues with the site are resolved!

Or at least, they’re sorta resolved. There’s some odd Time Zone issue that I simply cannot seem to pin down with the Hacker’s diet plugin. Luckily, while the source of the problem itself remains a mystery to me, its effects are not. I can account for the time issue in the code itself and just give my server, WordPress 2.9.x, and their time zone mystery the finger.

Treating the symptoms instead of the cause isn’t usually advised, but the goal of this blog was for me to have a reliable place to post about my weight loss, not to make me a better programmer. Recently it’s had those two results reversed.

Things I Will Accomplish This Week

  • Reschedule windshield fix (Damn you Rain!) (Scheduled and installed)
  • Eat out 3 times or less (Almost made it, but a promotion celebrations at work threw me over)
  • Go to the gym BEFORE work at least once (Eh, who was I kidding?)
  • Find/price a local place that offers Bod Pod testing (Done)

    Hooray!
But why before? That does not seem like a good idea. Morning=not good.

Hope you’re doing well so far on your goals. I’m glad your site is sorta fixed and at least functional now.

I’m interested in the bod pod too, please post if you find one and have it done!

I’ve been doing terrible with my goals :(

I’ve not been working out nearly as much as I intended to, and the majority of my good days eating have been mostly nullified by a few bad ones. I certainly haven’t slipped into old habits, but I’ve definitely lost the focus and edge I had when I was seeing consistent results. I’ve got to find a way to get that back.

Hey focus on one of those for a week. Eating out 3 times or less. Then next week go to the gym once before work. Ambition is great but not at the expense of your feeling like a failure because these “should” be easy enough goals and you “should” be able to accomplish them all within a week. Have compassion for yourself and be able to forgive yourself or youre just going to be so focused on what you didnt do that you cant move on to making new strides. Youve lost 45 pounds!! whether it hasnt been as efficient or consistent or fast as youd like or not, that is an amazing accomplishment. Believe me, Ive almost gained that much and I can feel what it does to my body….it is a LOT of weight so even if you are having difficulty right now with your progress, dont minimize how far youve come and what a great gift you have already given yourself. That 45 pounds is making a difference and let that be your inspiration. If you do what you have done two more times you will have met your goal. It is a journey. You are on it, you are learning as you go, and frankly, I think youre doing a pretty great f*ing job

Honestly, it’s not even that I’ve been focused on what I haven’t accomplished. So much of it has just been the stress of regular life. It’s obviously not a good thing, but it seems like losing weight just keeps losing out to other concerns.

I haven’t been eating terrible, or falling back into old bad habits, I just haven’t made my health the primary concern that it was when I started this. That’s what I need to get back.

I hear that…. Get pregnant! Your body won’t allow any concern to override it’s needs!
